The symptoms of porn addiction are varied and complicated with no one mold fits all. You can think of the different symptoms as comparing fire mages to rogues and druids. Some are very physical while others are more mental and sometimes you get a mix of both. Some porn addiction symptoms that may ring a bell can include porn induced erectile dysfunction (PIED), brain fog, depression, mood swings and difficulty sticking to long term goals and other tasks such as studies or work.

  • Failing to stop watching porn

  • Watching more extreme and disturbing pornographic content over time

  • Low libido

  • Low desire for sex with other humans

  • Difficulty achieving orgasm during real sex

  • Less satisfaction during real sex

  • Fantasizing about porn and mental escapism during real sex

  • Overall decreased sexual satisfaction

  • Depression

  • Emotional problems including being emotionally distant to a partner

  • Mood shifts including irritability, guilt and shame

    • commonly associated with addiction withdrawal symptoms when you have stopped watching porn for longer than usual

  • Decreased productivity

  • Difficulty maintaining healthy social relationships

  • Impaired self-control including preference for short term rewards over long-term rewards

  • Cravings to watch porn and masturbate

  • Social withdrawal

  • Using porn as a coping mechanism

    • Avoiding other important tasks and issues in life

    • Avoiding dealing with stress, loneliness and anxiety

  • Reduced self-esteem including loathing yourself, feeling guilty and undesirable
